How credentials are listed in the public verification registry, how records are maintained, and how corrections are handled.
At a glance
A plain summary. The full text below is what applies.
The registry allows employers and clients to check that a credential is valid and active.
Name, credential title, certificate number, issue date and status (Active, Lapsed, Suspended, Revoked).
Only necessary confirmation data is public; exam scores and personal contact details are never listed.
Credential holders may request corrections or appeal status decisions through the Registrar.
The registry gives employers, partners, recruiters and the public a trustworthy way to check that a person holds a credential, and that it is current. Each credential is also issued with a digital badge that carries a decentralized identifier (DID), so a check does not depend on trusting a screenshot or a certificate file.
A record can show the following. Not every field is shown for every credential.
| Field | What it is | Why it is shown |
|---|---|---|
| Name | The holder’s full name | So a check can be matched to a person |
| Credential | The credential held, for example Certified Technical Practitioner (CTP®) | The thing being checked |
| Specialization | The credential’s applied focus | Gives context to the credential |
| Jurisdiction | Where the holder is recorded as based | Context for the record |
| Issued and expires | The dates the credential began and ends | To show it is current |
| Status | The credential’s current state. See Statuses below | To show whether it is in good standing |
| Accreditation | The accreditation framework the credential is assessed under | To show how it is assessed |
| Exam result | The result recorded for the exam | Context for the assessment |
| Continuing education | Technical Development Units logged this cycle | To show active upkeep |
| DID | A decentralized identifier for the credential | Lets the badge be checked independently |
| Verification hash | A hash of the record that shows it has not been altered | So a check can detect tampering |
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Certified in Good Standing | The credential is current and its holder meets its requirements |
| Fellowship Active | The holder has been elected to Fellowship (FIICTP) and their membership is active |
| Board Emeritus | An honorary status for a former member of the Board of Global Standards |
| Expired, lapsed or withdrawn | The credential has ended, or has been withdrawn under the credential rules |
If a record is wrong, the holder, or anyone with good reason to believe it is wrong, can write to registry@iictp.org with the credential ID and what should change. We aim to reply within 48 hours and to correct a clear error promptly.
Because the registry exists to be checked, a record is not removed simply on request while the credential is valid. Holders can choose to be left out of name searches. Anyone who searches for the exact credential ID will still see the record, so a certificate or badge that a holder shares can always be checked. Holders may also ask us to remove or limit a record, and we will weigh the request against the registry’s purpose and the law that applies, including data protection rights described in the Privacy Policy.
When a credential expires, lapses or is withdrawn, the record stays so a check shows the true state, with the status updated. It is not removed after that, because a check must always show the true state.
See the Acceptable Use Policy for the full rules, including the rules for automated access.
Records are signed and carry a verification hash so tampering can be detected. Our approach to protecting the registry, and how to report a weakness, is on the Security and Disclosure page.
Registry questions, corrections and permission requests go to registry@iictp.org. Privacy requests go to privacy@iictp.org.
